I joined Ms Rachel Ng’s class in The Learning Lab when I was in Secondary 2 and remained till I completed my GCE O levels. I not only had no affinity with mathematics as a subject, having failed nearly all my secondary school math tests, I also hated math lessons. But Ms Ng’s classes were different. Her magic lies in her ability to bring mathematical concepts to students of all levels and capabilities. I remember sitting next to a boy of some kind of mathematical genius, and he would crunch numbers as easily as I would choke on them. Yet Ms Ng not only managed to teach us both, her lessons were also enriching for us both. No one was ever lost or bored in her class. Anyone who is familiar with the difficulties of teaching a classroom full of young students with a spread of abilities will no doubt appreciate what a great accomplishment that is.

Perhaps today, it has become a given that the best teachers are those who create relationships with their students – and as Ms Ng’s grateful student, I bear testimony to the truth of this proposition. She not only knew us all by name, she also took an interest in our individual interests and personalities, and became a person that most of her  students could feel comfortable with. I’ve had very few teachers who have given me an affectionate nickname, especially those who taught me a subject that I was beyond hopeless in. Although she would exclaim in horror at the kind of mistakes I was capable of making, she never humiliated me for them. In fact, over the years she would remind me of the algebraic atrocities I used to commit and we would laugh over them. She never failed to remind me how much I had improved since. More than arithmetic, Ms Ng helped me, one of the weakest mathematics students in her class, gain an intellectual courage to tackle problems that not too long ago would have undoubtedly defeat me. Under Ms Ng’s guidance and friendship, I got my As at the O levels. I even went on to do Integrated Mathematics at H2 level in Junior College and got my A. But most of all, I not only enjoyed her lessons, I learnt to enjoy mathematics.

Dear Ms Rachel Ng,

I was thrilled to receive A1s for both my Additional Math and Elementary Math subjects for the recent O level examinations. In truth, upon opening my results slip, the first grades I scrutinized where that of these math subjects as I knew they where the ones where the most effort was put in by both myself and others, particularly yourself.

Indeed, under your patient guidance and with the extra work which you both sourced and marked for me, I had slowly crept up the grade ladder from an average of 55% for both mathematics subjects to that of an 85% mean for the second prelim examinations just before my O levels! If not for your patience, crystal clear explanations and diligent care, I am quite certain that I would not have made it.

Distinctively, I remember a period of time in the beginning of the year when I was pressurized by my school teachers to give up my additional math subject to focus on my below par elementary math. At that point, it was solely your encouragement and dedication that drove me to persevere and push myself to practice more, and it could hardly be said that the effort was in vain.

Occasionally, students are said to be success cases, where near impossible grade improvements are made, and everyone gathers around to give the student a pat on the back and much congratulations. However, I am sure that in the student’s mind, he knows that a large part of the success is due to the great teacher who has helped him become that great success. A great teacher, such as yourself.

Yours Sincerely and Thankful

Ms Rachel Ng is the most effective math teacher I've ever had in my twelve years of education. She is extremely dedicated - I remember she arranged for quite a few extra lessons for us including one on a Sunday, and also the final marathon session before the O levels started.

Her 'red egs' were very nicely summarised and her explanations easy to understand - I referred to the notes she gave in class all the way through JC because it was such a good summary. Being able to understand and manipulate equations is one thing, and being able to teach it is another: Ms Ng isn't just fab at math, she can teach itand because of that I can now teach it too! [I am now a temp relief teacher, and wouldn't have been able to help the students with A.math if not for the notes which I secretly refer to in the staff room before entering class.]

Beyond the notes and the A1s, Ms Ng always made lessons exciting - she is able to connect with us! I had a great time in her class and always looked forward to lessons, no matter how tired I was at school!

Ms Ng is also one teacher I'll never forget because her style of teaching helped me all the way through secondary and JC - the discipline she instilled (because she's so neat and organised) helped me develop good habits for practising math. She deserves credit for my A in H2 math as well.

Ms Ng, you're a great teacher and friend : D THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.

Ms Ng has to be one of the best, if not, the best teacher in my academic life. She is extremely dedicated to her classes, and very well-liked by her students, me included. I have attended her EMath and Amath lessons since I was in Secondary 1, when my Math scores were bordering at a C5. Within months of her teaching, my math improved to an A1 and I can proudly say that I have never scored lesser than an A for my math subjects under her coaching.

I remember that I was suffering and hating Math in Secondary 1 because my school was teaching us Secondary 3 Math when my peers were only dealing with the Sec 1 syllabus. Since our Math class had about 10 students, it was difficult and almost impossible for Ms Ng to concentrate wholly on me and help me during lesson time. Instead Ms Ng would stay back and help address my problems and teach me. She did all these of her own accord, and I will always be grateful to her. Her notes and examples have stayed with me throughout the years, even after I graduated from her Secondary 4 class, in fact her notes also saw me through my A levels (which helped, A LOT).

Her lessons were very interesting; she used methods that helped us visualize math and see math in a different way. This was probably the reason why I never thought Math was a dry topic. Her lessons were fun, too. She never really adopted a teacher-student role in class, and out of class, she was our friend, our mentor, who would joke with us and listen to our worries and troubles. That said, however, I must emphasize that Ms Ng adopts a “no-nonsense” policy when it comes down to our work. I personally learnt it the hard way when she berated me (rather harshly I would say) for being sloppy in my work. But it is precisely that incident that made me take pride in my Math work and be conscientious in not only Math but also all my other subjects.

She instilled in me (and many others) a love for Math. I daresay that it was this passion that drove me to work really hard for my A levels, in fact I spent a lot more time on Math than any other subjects. All this should be credited to Ms Ng, because honestly, without her, my Math grades would be a complete flop.

Thank You, Ms Ng, for all my achievement in Math. I really love Math, I do, and I think the credit goes to you. And I am also happy to say that I scored an A for my H2 Math in JC (in fact my only A) and this would not have been possible without you. I will always, always remember your teachings (Math and Life in general), thank you so much!

P/S My math teachers in JC were horrible, they obviously didn’t know how to teach Math like you did.

Ms Ng is one of the most engaging teachers that was ever taught me thorughout my education thus far. She never fails to captivate her students during her lessons, and that can be attributed to the fact that she is able to connect with her students. No matter how tiring a day i've had, i've always looked forward to and enjoyed her lessons!

Ms Ng is also hugely committed, always going the extra mile to ensure that her students get the most out of her lessons. During the weeks leading up to major examinations, Ms Ng would hold extra classes for her students to revise through the syllabus and to consolidate all our knowledge. In addition to that, she would go out of her way to prepare extra practice questions for her students.

She always manages to put across even the most complex of mathematical concepts in the simplest of ways, guiding us through every step of the learning process. The notes she gave us were very well summarised and enabled us to grasp the gist of each topic.

All in all, Ms Ng is truly an unforgettable teacher, not only for her amazing knack for teaching, helping me set a solid foundation for mathematics, but also because of her dedication to her students!

Dear Ms Ng,

“Thank you for helping me in my Math… It’s all thanks to you that I’ve improved so much! You’re a great teacher!”

Having not been a very ‘math’ person through all the years of my education, Ms Rachel Ng was my sole motivation and the reason for my A1s in both additional and elementary math at the O Levels exams. It was an achievement that had seemed inconceivable before I started attending classes with Ms Ng. For all the four years of my secondary school education, Ms Ng was there to witness my fails and borderline-passes at math examinations – she was always encouraging, always dedicated and mostly importantly, always faithful that I would get my A1s. Her selfless dedication meant that I could see her one-on-one after class when I needed extra help. The extra lessons that she arranged out of her own time (even on Sundays!) prior to the O Levels made sure that we had ample preparation.

My exam success was almost guaranteed by a compilation of ‘red examples’ or - to put in layman terms - target questions which were slightly more difficult and ones which I had made repeat mistakes in. The personalized compilation contained clear and concise solutions written by Ms Ng and were self-explanatory in their nature. The huge advantage of having it on hand before exams was that it provided a good summary of all the problems that I had encountered. It effectively eliminated any chance of repeating the same mistakes under stressful exam conditions.

Although I did not go on to take math as a subject in JC, my strong foundation in math enabled my being able to give additional math tuition to under-privileged students under a community-involvement project. It was a very fulfilling experience, being able to pass on the methods, discipline and analytical skills that Ms Ng had instilled in me through all my years in her class.

Ms Ng makes math fun. From dreading math at the outset, I grew increasingly interested in the subject. The way Ms Ng teaches is inspiring – I remember lucid and systematic explanations to what seemed to me like the most complex of math content. If being able to do math can be considered a life skill, then Ms Ng can be credited for imparting one to me.

Something Farrah wrote for me when she was in Secondary 2:
Dear Ms Ng,

Thanks for a whole year of fun maths and tuition. I’ve never enjoyed extra lessons so much until I joined your class. Now I Love Maths and my dad couldn’t be happier. I am looking forward to A.Maths next year! Thanks especially for all the help Ms Ng! You’re The Best!

Before Ms Ng taught me for A mathI had C6 for my mid year examinations back in Sec 4. I was struggling hard and thanks to Ms Ng, I've attained an A for A math for O levels! Ms Ng gave me abundant exam papers for me to practise on and she would go through questions meticulously at which I have difficulty in.

I was an extremely disorganised person and as a result, I made numerous careless mistakes. Ms Ng had taught me to be neat and guided me on how to present well in math questions. She has also imparted her knowledge and hence I have greatly sharpened my mathematics analytical skills. Because of her teaching, I was commended in class for achieving top in class for Prelims when I was Sec 4! I was elated and very grateful to Ms Ng. I must say that I was fortunate to have Ms Ng as a math tutor in TLL.

In addition, Ms Ng is amiable and I could still remember that she gave us an efficient mechanical pencil(especially for math) on Children's day! I still keep it till today! She does not only teach well, she sees every of her student as her friend. Even though she is not teaching me now, Ms Ng still remembers my birthday! I must say that Ms Ng is a very dedicated teacher. I began to have a deeper appreciation of Math all because of Ms Ng!

If you are still baffled by the concepts of Math and you are willing to work hard for an A, I strongly urge you to seek Ms Ng for tutoring.

Ms Rachel Ng, a patient and warm lady, is a very dedicated teacher who puts in her utmost effort in helping all her studentsShe has been one of the most effective teachers I have ever had in my schooling years. It is her effort to help me that got me my A1s in both E and A maths in O levels. She considered it her prime importance that all her students understood her and never once did she hesitate to repeat herself when she was requested to do so.

Ms Ng's organised and methodical way of teaching proved very helpful in understanding the underlying concepts in the various topics of Maths. Her step-by-step approach in solving problems was a critical skill that I soon picked up that me Maths that much easier and interesting. She used alternative teaching styles so that her all her students could benefit from her lesssons. Her short notes and tips summarised each topic which helped in quick revisions before tests and exams. Her notes proved not only to helpful to me but undoubtedly to the others in my class too. Ms Ng always stayed back after the lessons to offer personal help to those who asked for it. She selflessly arranged for extra classes (including the weekends) so that her students could clarify doubts and have the extra practice.

Ms Ng's encouraging nature pushed her students to realise their potential and achieve their goals. Her words to her students were filled with warmth and encourgment which made her a good friend to all her students. She gave small gifts (sweets, cards, stress balls) to her students which would instantly ease the stress of her student. Her fun-filled jokes lightened the atmosphere of classes which made classes enjoyable. Ms Ng has the aptitude not only in what she teaches but also has the ability to communicate effectively, a skill that very few possess.

Ms Ng is not only concerned about the academic well being of her students but she cares deeply about her students emotional well being also. She takes the initiative to help those who are stressed and shares stories which teach much. She is talented and enthusiastic in whatever she does.

Miss Rachel Ng was my Mathematics tutor from 2007 to 2008 at The Learning Lab.
Patient and dedicated, Miss Ng employed various interesting teaching methods to cater to our individual learning styles, fuelling our interest for the subject. Miss Ng’s lessons were always well-planned and well-delivered. Each lesson was a consistent effort towards preparing us for our examinations. Her lessons were always focused but at the same time, sufficiently light-hearted to ensure continuous student-teacher interaction which was imperative in clarifying concepts and keeping the lesson interesting and refreshing.

Miss Ng’s warm and friendly persona also created a conducive atmosphere for students to raise questions wherever doubts arose, ensuring that each topic was well-covered, giving us a solid foundation enabling us to achieve stellar results for the O level examinations.  Miss Ng continually affirmed us of our abilities to perform in Mathematics regardless of our performances in examinations prior to the O levels. She had us set goals to achieve our fullest potential and took pains to make sure we all made serious attempts to achieve our targeted grades. She did not merely give us the fish, but she taught us how to fish.

Miss Ng made genuine attempts to look after our holistic well being as opposed to solely drumming into our heads the importance of academic success. Miss Ng frequently expressed concern towards students and provided for us a steady source of comfort and assurance. Miss Ng was not only our teacher but a counsellor to many. Her nurturing instinct touched many a student and she was a friend to many. Her constant care alleviated many of our personal problems and ensured that we went into the examination halls with steady hands and calm nerves. Miss Ng went the extra mile to imbue a well-rounded education in her students and has earned the well-deserved respect of her students.

Miss Rachel Ng was my mathematics teacher for 3 years (between 2005 and 2008) and played an important role in enabling me to achieve A1 grade for my O-level math results. As a teacher, Miss Ng has a unique style of teaching us math by using a variety of examples. This allowed me to explore my own strengths and eventually, to discover which method works best for me. Additional mathematics was never a chore as it became enjoyable and easy to learn under the tutelage of Miss Ng. Whenever I had any doubts regarding my school work, Miss Ng would willingly set aside time after class to help me clear those doubts.
I would recommend Miss Ng as a math tutor without any reservations.

Ms Ng played a crucial part in helping me achieve A1 for A math. She made it easy to understand difficult concepts and provided me with more than enough practice from her reservoir of questions (from many schools) to ensure I was well prepared. I vividly remembered that she also allowed me to attend all her other classes so that I could get the extra help I required, which I did actually attend most of them. If math was all about getting adequate practice, Ms Ng ensured that those who were committed to working hard could obtain the grades they seek to achieve.

In addition, Ms Ng was very friendly and understanding. I enjoyed and looked forward to her classes. She understood our plight and workload, and chose not to put too much pressure on us but to motivate us instead. Besides teaching math concepts, she taught me how to present and organize my work so that marks were not wasted. She pointed out my critical errors, where I was losing marks and strategies for the exam. I would definitely recommend Ms Ng as a teacher to anyone.

As long as I could remember, Ms Ng is so far my favourite teacher. She made math easy to understand with her style of teachingI prefer her way of teaching to other teachers’ because she always presents her math workings neatly and methodically. This makes learning much easier and effective. Also, it also influenced me to be more meticulous and systematic in my work.  Moreover, Ms Ng never disparages us when we are not performing well in math. Instead, she would find out what when wrong and offer us extra help. She also goes the extra mile to make sure that we are well prepared for our exams. For example we had a Math Marathon before our O levels’ with Ms Ng, throughout the 6 hours; she did not show any impatience and went through all the questions that we had difficulties with.

Ms Ng is a wonderful teacher not only because of her teaching style but more importantly it is the way she presents herself to her students. When I first met her in Sec 1, I knew that she is different because to me she is more like a friend. Her lessons are not as rigid as compared to normal lessons; she cares about our well-being and would shares interesting stories with us during breaks. Hence, our lessons are always filled with laughter which is good form of “distressing” after a tiring week of school.
Throughout the 4 years, I looked forward to every lesson with Ms Ng. All in all, Ms Ng is a committed teacher and would go beyond the realms of a knowledge-provider.  She is not only an excellent teacher but also a wonderful friend. Thank you Ms Ng!

Ms Rachel Ng is an excellent and a very effective teacher, not just on the academic side, but as someone whom one could count on for help.

Being her student for a couple of years, she had always helped me get my As for my examinations. Even after secondary school, I was still able to do well for H2 math. This is possible all because Ms Ng had helped me built a strong foundation for maths. And I really appreciate her always emphasising on certain key features to take note of, aka her "red egs". Those notes were helpful, even in jc when I needed to refresh my memory of certain laws of mathematics, those red egs were definitely of great help! Ms Ng also has a passion for maths, which she passes on to her students. She made me love maths, and this helped me along when I was studying because I was in fact very satisfied every time I practised math.

Also, from my experience, Ms Ng was always sensitive to our behaviour, when we were feeling down or upset or not our usual selves. She would try to comfort us or provide us with emotional support. Her actions always exceed the role of a teacher.

Most importantly, Ms Ng has a special ability to connect with her students and this allowed her to have good student-teacher relationships. Because of her ability, she always had me looking forward to her lessons and I enjoyed them thoroughly. This has not only affected me, but my whole class as well.

In conclusion, Ms Ng was a great teacher that changed the way I viewed maths and I really appreciate the time and effort she had spent towards me!

Thank you, Ms Ng!

Although Ms Rachel Ng has taught me for less than a year, she has really been instrumental in ensuring the great improvement of my Additional Mathematics grades. I joined her class at the end of Secondary Three with a weak foundation of the topics I had learnt. She was meticulous in her teaching, explaining every step clearly. She did not assume that I would have already understood the basic concepts, a mistake many teachers make. Whenever I missed her class, she would ensure that
I was able to understand what was taught the previous lesson. The one-to-one attention I received while being in a small class helped as well.

She was not only concerned about our Additional Mathematics grades, but also about the general welfare of her students. Ms Rachel Ng came across as a teacher committed to ensuring the best possible for her students.

There is a lot to say about Ms Rachel Ng and I hope my words can do justice to the person she is.

Being my A Math Learning Lab teacher from Secondary 3 to 4, Ms Ng has left a great impression on me and she has never failed to rub her enthusiasm, passion and patience on us during her lessons. With her good command of language and clear delivery skills, Ms Ng crystallised difficult A Math concepts to enhance our understanding - I remember referring to Ms Ng’s ‘red egs’ all the time as she gave us very good examples of complex math questions and these ‘red egs’ really helped me in my tests and exams. Ms Ng also constantly recapped formulas from previous chapters while going through questions to ensure that they were always fresh in our minds.

Ms Ng is easily approachable as she takes the effort to get to know each and every one of her students. Even though she mingles and tells us jokes at times, Ms Ng has a nice balance between work and play and this makes her a very good teacher. She motivates us by writing little words of encouragement (and sticking nice stickers) on every assignment. With her neat handwriting, Ms Ng sets a good example for us to follow as she emphasizes on neat and organised work.

Ms Ng’s dedication is unmistakable; she sacrificed her own time on weekends to have extra lessons in preparation for the O levels. This has definitely helped me in scoring an A in A Math. I am very fortunate to have had such a great teacher, thank you Ms Ng. :)

Thank you!! i always keep missing you on msn. everytime im online, youre not. haha. and you’re always busy or something. so i dont get to talk to you. how are you, anyway? i haven’t asked you that yet. :P well, hope to talk to you soon!!

I'm gonna attempt to write a super super nice one below 1000 words. This is like summary writing. And my math is better than my english.

Because of you!

I had a few misunderstandings and miscommunications with you when I was your student. Especially in Sec 1 when I was so stubborn and just so unmotivated. But you actually got me an A2 for math at the end of Sec 1! Haha that was the best thing that happened that year.

In Sec 3 I kinda felt that you preferred the guys in class to the girls. Cos at times u wld start talking abt Ivan Chang during lessons n cos I didn't like Ivan then so I felt quite put off. Haha. :)

Then in Sec 4 you stopped talking about Ivan so much (Probably cos Brian joined our class =P) n miraculously changed my "i will die" attitude and I actually got A1 for both A & E maths for O's. Proudest achievement thus far.

I remember you for all the help and encouragement you gave me. You're definitely one of the best teachers who've taught me. :)

A Christmas Card from Rosel:
Dear Ms Ng,

Firstly, a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. May you have a joyful year ahead full of pleasant surprises.

Secondly, I’d like to thank you for all that you’ve done for me (and the rest of the class). The encouragement I’ve received from you was what brought me through the entire O’Levels. Thanks for staying back late to help us with tricky sums.

Thanks for all that you’ve done for the past 4 years. All the best for a happy year ahead!

Love,
Rosel Tan

Ms Rachel Ng from The Learning Lab has been teaching my son, Alkin Tan Mathematics from the second half of his Primary 6 to Secondary 4.

During the years that Alkin has been in her classes, Ms Ng is the most valuable teacher that I have come across. She has the best attitude of a teacher that goes all way out for her students by keeping tab on her students, liaising with the parents when the student does not hand up their assignments and not paying attention in class, working hand in hand with the parents that helps the child alot.

Ms Ng will bring herself down to the students to be able to communicate with them.  She is even willing to sacrifice her personal time before or after class for her students that are not coping well during the lesson or having problems with a certain chapter of the subject.

Ms Ng is a very delicate dedicated teacher that will help every of her students in all ways and manner to excel in their studies.  She encourages her students even when they do not do well and urge them on to study harder for each examination that they do not do well. She never gives up hope on her students. She is always full of praises for her students and has the notion that each and every child has their own potential which indirectly will not affect their self-esteem.

My child has definitely benefited from Ms Ng’s teaching and guidance all these years!

I will definitely recommend any students to be taught by Ms Ng and she will be an asset to any organization.

I wish Ms Ng a bright and successful future in whatever she ventures into.

Yours sincerely

Studying A Math would have been unbearable if not for the help and guidance Ms Rachel Ng provided during the tuition lessons. Ms Ng had a very unique style of teaching- interactive, fun, yet extremely informative. When I first attended her replacement class over in The Learning Lab, I realised that her pedagogy style suites me very well, plus the fact that I did not have to drag myself to tuition lessons every week nor did I have to complain about the homework Ms Ng gave us, and thus decided to transfer to her class. Ever since then, Ms Ng has been my math tutor for a good 3 years till my O levels. It’s a pity she does not teach A level math, but thankfully, I survived A levels with the help of the “Red Book” examples which I constantly referred to and even adopted this strategy when studying for A levels. The Red Book effectively summarises all the important formulae and tricky examples with explanation – an excellent self-guide book to flip through before entering the exam room (which I applied to other subjects as well).

Also, Ms Ng was a very meticulous teacher who expects the best out of all her students. With that, I’ve learnt from her to be very detailed in everything I do, not just in the presentation of math working solutions, a valuable skill she inculcates in her students.

Besides Ms Ng does not give her students a hard time by being a demanding and fierce teacher, yet she is still able to effectively get our attention and participation. With such dedication to her work and her love for math, I must say that Ms Ng’s lessons are one of the rare lessons that I actually look forward to attend to every week!

In all honestly, I owe my A in O levels Additional and Elementary Math to the help of Ms Ng. She is the most dedicated teacher I’ve ever came across in all my education years!
Thank you Ms Ng for all the valuable skills and knowledge you imparted to me! It’s my honour to be one of your students!

Ms Rachel Ng is a very dedicated teacher. Because of her genuine concern for us, she arranged additional classes for us in the period just before O levels, even though it was not a requirement for her to do so. In my entire school life, I’ve never seen a teacher so willing so spend her free time to help us so much.

I believe that Ms Ng is a very effective teacher and with her help, I managed to further improve my understanding of Mathematics. I always did better for Additional Mathematics (which Ms Ng taught me) than in Elementary Mathematics even though it is generally believed that Additional Mathematics is a harder subject.

In addition, Ms Ng’s handwriting when writing out problems to us is very neat and clear showing that she is very systematic and organized and puts in effort into writing neatly to ensure that we all can read what she writes. It also helps us a lot as it is easy to read.

Besides academic work, Ms Ng also is able to interact well with her students. This really helped us as it made lessons more interesting. The fact that Ms Ng and I are still in contact even after she has stopped teaching me is proof of the positive impact she has made on her students’ lives.

In essence, I feel that Ms Ng is a great teacher.

You are a really patient Mathematics teacher who could withstand all my weird comments during your lesson.

Although time past really quickly, the A.Maths lessons were most memorable with various students from different school. This has added diversity and vibrancy to the lesson.

Anyway, I thank you for teaching me A.Maths although I HATED the subject.

Your kind gesture of treating the TLL class of 2006 was laudable and it has brought your ex students closer to one another.

I hope that you will continue to touch and change lives of future batches of students you teach. Wish you good luck with your present ACS boys.

Aunty (I’m not his aunt!) Rachel was a great math teacher i had in TLL for the last 6 mths before O's. She worked wonders with my math in those 6 mths while providing heaps of fun in her lessons. It was the best 6 months of math i had. She was such a dedicated teacher, like seriously, staying with us till late teaching math, treating us to dinner before O's and of cuz stealing exam papers from different schools HAHA. I've gotta admit much of my improvement came from her :)
Alrighty thats all for now. You take care and hope to see you soon!

I have had the distinct pleasure of having Ms Rachel Ng as a tutor in my math class for close to 7 years of my 12 year education, and she is without a doubt one of the more impressive teachers I had. Ms Ng has been more than the ideal teacher. In order to achieve the highest grades for her students, she has demonstrated outstanding dedication and passion in her craft.

There is no question that teaching hyperactive youths like myself a rather drab subject like math would be most challenging; and she admirably fulfilled her role as mentor without losing the focus of her studentsHer cleverly devised lessons are well fleshed out and interesting; there is no math question that goes unanswered within the 2 to 3 hours of lesson every week. Her teaching method inspires confidence, a welcomed trait for the less academically inclined students like myself.

Beyond her lessons, Ms Ng strives to know her students on a personal basis. Her consistently positive attitude and air of calm belief enables her to comfortably interface with students; from simple things such celebrating the birthdays of her students to counseling students who may be facing difficulties, Ms Ng demonstrates clear understanding of her students by ensuring that they are emotionally and psychologically well taken off.
Again, Ms Rachel Ng is one of the better teachers I had in my education and I believe she would be a fantastic teacher for many years to come!

An email which an ex-student sent to my workplace:
Hi,

I’m Renee Yuen, and I attended The Learning Lab when I was in secondary school a few years back. I was wondering whether the tutor who taught be is still teaching at The Learning Lab? Her name’s Miss Rachel Ng. I just wanted to thank her again for teaching me. I’m in Warwick University now and I’m still using the basic techniques she taught me to do Math here.

An email which another ex-student sent:
“Firstly, I thank Mr Choe, who was a great person to share my thoughts with and talk to. Although I did not really see him as much as the other staff, I am extremely thankful for his help over the years. Secondly, I would like to thank Ms Chee who was fun to talk with, supportive and friendly. Thirdly, I would like thank both Ms Rachel Ng who is like the GREATEST A.Maths teacher in The Learning Lab and of course Ms Yvonne Han who is the BEST English teacher The Learning Lab has to offer. To these 2 teachers I am really indebted to for going the extra mile to help their students. I would also like to thank all the admin staff for being fun to talk to and for being my friends.

To everybody in The Learning Lab, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best Wishes,
